Speech Pathology Services
at Warringa Park School
At Warringa Park
School the Speech Pathology Department works with a consultancy model of
operation. Working within a consultancy model allows us to
provide services to all students attending the school and obtain the
best possible outcomes for students with speech, language, communication
and swallowing difficulties.
The service aims
to:
Identify and assess speech, language,
communication and swallowing difficulties experienced by each student
Develop programs and strategies for teaching staff
and families
Provide training and professional development to
teaching staff and families
The service seeks
to achieve these aims by:

Providing assessment of individual students and
classes where appropriate
In consultation with teaching staff,
developing specific programs and strategies to use with individual
students and classes
When appropriate running groups that
may target a specific difficulty (ie. stuttering) or a range of skills (ie.
social skills)
Supporting and
assisting teaching staff to set up and run groups which target specific
speech, language and communication skills
Assist in the development and maintenance of
augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
Providing consultation to teaching
staff to assist them to adapt the curriculum
Provide training and professional
development for families and teaching staff through classes, workshops
and training sessions.
