Performing Arts at Warringa Park School

This year most students at Warringa Park School will be taking part in weekly Performing Arts lessons.

Performing Arts is a great opportunity to gain a wide range of skills. Our students will develop their movement and coordination skills, improve their communication skills, use their imaginations, work together as part of a team and boost their self esteem. Of course they will have fun as well!

Circus has been a big part of Performing Arts at Warringa Park School for some time now. We will keep this tradition going with students throughout the school getting a chance to learn a range of circus skills. These will include juggling, acrobatics, clowning, unicycling, plate spinning and much more.

Students in the Junior School will also be taking part in regular ‘story drama’ activities which will enrich their appreciation of popular children’s story books.

Middle Years students will be taking part in the Festival of Healthy Living in Terms 2 and 3. This is a very exciting project which will result in a big performance in September. Students from Glen Orden and Woodville Primary schools will also be involved and guest artists will be attending all three schools to help coordinate the project. The theme will be mental health and wellbeing.

Senior school students are developing a range of movement, mime and circus skills. There is a big emphasis on team (ensemble) work in the activities they have been involved in.

Parents will get an opportunity to see students demonstrate their performing skills later in the year. We will also be hosting some performances by professional performing artists at Warringa Park School in Terms 2, 3 and 4. Keep an eye out for details in the school website and newsletter and notes we will be sending home.
